Program Specifics:
Windsor

The objective of our program is to equip you with all the information you need to make an informed decision to relocate to Windsor-Essex and Canada. Please see below for the various services the Windsor Jewish Federation offers to prospective immigrants at the various stages of their relocation planning process.

As a first step, we recommend visiting the Government of Canada website to see which immigration program for which you may be eligible to apply.

Exploratory Phase

  • Referral to a trusted immigration lawyer. Reimbursed for up to $5,000 of legal fees or job coach upon relocating to Windsor.*

  • Introductory calls with other newcomers who have relocated to Windsor from your home country or region.

  • We customize a two-day exploratory visit to Windsor, including meetings related to housing, education, employment and Jewish life.

  • Ongoing virtual workshops on various aspects of relocating to Windsor and Canada.

Planning Phase

  • Job Readiness – Referral to a trusted job coach. Reimbursed for up to $5,000 of job coach or legal fees upon relocating to Windsor-Essex.

  • Employment Networking – Introductory calls with professionals in your field. Begin building professional networks even before you immigrate.

Arrival in Windsor

  • Airport pick-up.

  • Host family for the first week while you look for a rental.

  • Reimburse up to $5,000 towards legal or job coaching fees.

  • WJCC signs surety on the first lease agreement if needed.

  • Volunteer spends a day taking you to various government offices to register for a health card, driver’s license, cell phone, etc.

  • Free membership to JCC and synagogue for the first year; one free week of Camp Yomee for your children.

  • Take you across the border to see Jewish facilities in Detroit.

  • $5,000 grant paid to program participants upon relocating to Windsor-Essex. This amount does not need to be paid back on the condition that the participant resides in Windsor-Essex for at least two years.
