Hamilton

Our program aims to equip you with all the information you need to make an informed decision to relocate to Hamilton, Ontario. Please see below for the services the Hamilton Jewish Federation offers prospective immigrants at the various stages of their relocation planning process. 

As a first step, we recommend visiting the Government of Canada website to see which immigration program for which you may be eligible to apply.

Exploratory Phase

  • Referral to our immigration consultant at Hamilton Jewish Family Services. 

  • Introductory calls with other newcomers who have relocated to Hamilton from your home country or region.
  • Customized exploratory visit to Hamilton, including meetings related to housing, education, employment and Jewish life.

  • Online question and answer sessions on various aspects of relocating to Hamilton and Canada.

Planning Phase

  • Employment Networking – Introductory calls with local professionals in your field. Begin building professional networks even before you immigrate.
  • Assistance in finding you a place to live: we will refer you to real estate agents, guide you in neighbourhood selection, and tour houses or apartments for you if you wish

  • Referral/introduction to Jewish schools and Jewish organizations

Arrival in Hamilton

  • Airport pick-up, drive you to where you are staying. 

  • Food will be provided for the first 1-2 days in your new home.

  • Guided tour of your new neighbourhood (we will show you where the nearest grocery stores are, gas stations, etc.)

  • Volunteer spends a day taking you to government offices to register for health card, driver’s license, cell phone, etc.

  • Free membership to JCC and synagogues for the first year; one free week of Kadimah J Camp for your children, first year of tuition free at any of our Jewish schools.

Living in Hamilton

  • Free attendance to JCC programs throughout your first year in Hamilton.

  • Invitation to the annual free Welcome Party for Newcomers.
